Estancia National High School

Estancia National High School is a public secondary high school in the Municipality of Malinao ,Philippines . It was founded in 1980 and located at Zone 3, Estancia, Malinao, Albay, at
the centermost portion of the largest barangay of malinao, Albay. it is surrounded by three nationalized high schools: Bantayan HS, 2 km west, Labnig HS, 1.5 km north, and San antonio HS, 1.5 km south.
HISTORY: The barangay of Estancia has a complete elementary school. Every school year this elementary school turns out more or less 100 graduates. This big number of elementary graduates caused the people of this barangay to think of opening a barangay high School.
So, in June, 1966 Estancia Barangay High School was born. It was formally opened in June, 1966 with a certain Ms. Cuya taching the first year class of seventy-one students. The following SY, a second year class was organized with a certain Ms. Cuya as the adviser.
Unluckily,, in October 1967, a supertyphoon came. The means of livelihood of the peopl of the community was severely affected. Rice, abaca, coconuts, and all other types of crops were destroyed. The temporary classrooms of the Barangay High School were also destroyed. Hence, the downfall of the newly born barangay high school.
It was dissolved during that same School Year, 1967-68. Students who were willing to pursue their studies were advised to transfer to the nearby high schools. For fourteen years this school was dormant and nonexistent.
For some reasons, the people of the community thought again of reopening the School. With the assiduous and persistent prodding of the late Bgy6. Capt. Mrs. Encarnacion Bo, coupled with the enthusiasm of the Sangguniang barangay member, Mr. Godofredo Ilagan, the application for its reopening was approved.
Hence, the rebirth of Estancia barangay high school.
In June, 1980, the first year class was opened with Mrs. Eugenia C. Canafe as the teacher using the classroom located at the elementary school.
Aware of the importance of a school site, the PTA, the Barangay Council and the Husband and Wife Org. of Estancia raised funds to purchase a lot for the high school. A three-room building now stands at the elementary school sites.
Elementary graduates from the nearby barangays (Ogob, diaro, Labnig, San Antonio, Comun, etc.) helped increase the population of the school since then.
The status of this School as a barangay high School stayed until the term of Pres. Ramos, when a Republic Act converting all barangay high schools into nationalized high school was enacted.
